DMS: Change/Delete Characteristic value while creating New Version of DIR

Hi Gurus,

While creating 'New Version' of DIR from an existing DIR using CV01N/CV02N/CV03N, all characteristic values are getting automatically populated in the new version. My requirement is to delete the value assigned to one particular characteristic, so that when the user goes to the 'additional tab' which contains the characteristic fields, all fields except one should have the values copied from the previous version.

I can't find any Exit/BAdI either for Classification or for DMS which will help me achieve this. I don't know if this can be achieved through configuration.

Any ideas? Please help.
