Problem with subtracting two dates

Hi,

I'm trying to subtract two dates - the MINIMUM of the 'delivery start date', and the application date.

So I thought the formula would be something like this:

=Min([Delivery Start Date]) - [Application Date], however I get this error:

The expression or sub-expression at position 1 in the '-' function uses an invalid data type. (IE 10037)

Which is understandable; when I look at the data preview the date format looks like they are different formats, e.g. Application date is 27/08/2015 and delivery start date is 2015/12/17 00:00:00). I've tried to set up two columns in my report table, application date and min delivery date, and also tried to use =FormatDate([Application Date];"dd/MM/yyyy") on both these columns as well as the formula to force a format, but it will not work. Perhaps, is there a way to assign a new NameOf for the new delivery date format?

So my question is, how do I change the format so that they are valid data types?
