Issues with firing up SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [developer edition]

Hello Friends,

I am trying to set up a NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.4 system on CAL as per the tutorial at Cloud Connector - CAL Backend ... and facing issues.

Cloud Account settings for my user are fine; I have launched HANA SP08 developer edition from this CAL account in the past without any problem.

After I activate my instance in CAL, I see the two instances launched in my AWS account, both having 2/2 checks gone through fine.

Once CAL dashboard confirmed that the instance was now Active, I tried to log in to the frontend server.

I am able to log into the frontend server. Surprisingly I do not see any SAP MMC, but I do see a SAP Logon with A4H already prepopulated in it. However, when I tried to connect to client 001, using ABAP user DEVELOPER and password <master password>, I was given the error "wrong password". Same issue when I tried logging in as SAP* in client 000. In case you suspect I was typing my master password wrongly, the HANA Cloud Connector login was working with Administrator/<master password>, so that was not the issue.

I logged in at the OS level and logged in as a4hadm. I then typed

sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetProcessList

I don't have the snapshot now, but I remember the status of dispatched being YELLOW and test status as STARTING. Even after 70 minutes of activating (recommended time mentioned in CAL for first provisioning is 60 minutes). Searching on SCN, I came across a post that gave the suggestion to reboot my instance and that should work.

I did so, but this time I am not even able to connect to the ABAP system. I get the error below.

Since there was no SAP MMC, I decided to log in to the OS of my AWS instance and dig a bit again.

I logged in a4hadm and typed the command "sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetProcessList". All seems good this time (all GREEN), see snapshot below.

But no luck with connecting to the ABAP system, even after waiting an hour (in case the instance was taking time starting up).

Any ideas what's going wrong? I do not know how to debug further. Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Suneet
